I presented myself the unique opportunity of thinking this morning. Instead of rolling out of bed and dicking around for an hour, frigid and useless, I stayed warm and contemplated, mostly about humorous scenarios involving bathroom and kitchen sinks. This gives me little time to procrastinate. I'm eating my Pop Tarts and drinking my tea all within ten or fifteen minutes. Get it done. Get on with it. I must say, I've finally toasted the perfect Pop Tart.
I lost too much time procrastinating. From now on, when I feel I have nothing to do, instead of finding some menial task I'll simply stay static and think. I act quite a bit these days, but I don't feel I think enough. Yes, I can expand my mind by reading this, that, and the other, but the best exercise for mental achievement is deliberation. Even when I've nor real, valid thoughts to think, thinking those thoughts can give me something to think about later. An example:
Who threw the dog in the pool?
Alright - what dog? What pool? Even the assailant's(s') identity being unknown, how do we know there was someone near the dog and the pool at the same time to attack the dog in such a manner? Who's pool is it? Does that even matter to our problem solving? What's the dog's name?
See - the possibilities are endless. 7:04 am. Time to dance
- Later -
I've got nothing at the moment. I need to call BJ back. I'll do that.
- Even Later -
Skinny Pete's music seems to be coming together. We'll see what Tim has to contribute.
Speaking of music, I've got a heaping helping of it on my plate: Sun Ra, Moondog, Fela Kuti, Jenny Lewis, kd Lang. Yeah - kd Lang. Her reading of "After the Gold Rush" is quite amazing. Hymns From the 49th Parallel is an album of covers by Canadian songwriters. Sometimes, it's a great voice with a great arranger's mind behind it that makes all the difference.
