August 23, 2008

Yesterday was a strange brew of monotony, displeasure, and fun.
I sat through five hours of orientation at the Home Depot, watching about four videos (all quite pointless) and taking a tour. That was it. The rest of the time we just sat around. In order to stay awake, I drank a big Mountain Dew and a can of Coke. I had to have a chicken basket from Dairy Queen for "lunch" because Wendy's was packed to the tits. What a joke that was: 'Well, we've wasted two and a half hours of your time, I suppose we could possibly allow you thirty minutes to eat or something, I suppose.' Whoopty-fucking-dick. By the time I got out of there, I was drained. I picked up some groceries and went home. Lying down seemed necessary at the time, but it turned out I was simply the victim of a sugar/calorie over-dose. Wow - I felt awful. Totally void of any energy whatsoever, I literally felt like shit. Not in the sense of bad, but lie an actual turd. Water and rest sorted that out. I had sushi for dinner. Great good fun.

- Later, 11:59 PM -

Saw Tropic Thunder with Jessie Perez and Cliff. Goddammit it was great. Jessie can think she has a hoity-toity opinion that matters all she wants, that movie was the best comedy I've seen all year. Not that I'm knocking her in any fashion. Brilliant performances from everyone. Also, it had a lot to say.
It seems that Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses was a fluke. The new Slipknot album is nothing special; the name says it all: All Hope Is Gone. Disappointing.
