Already, Hume has my attention. I read David Hume's An Inquiry Concerning Human Understanding while at Richland, and...I can't remember anything about it really. So, I deemed it necessary to familiarize myself again. In Of the Different Species of Philosophy, he's prefacing the rest of his work by acknowledging the responsibility of man to better understand their world. In order for someone to do this successfully, they have to find a social, intellectual, and emotional middle-ground. Hume has a great summing this point up: "Be a philosopher; but, amidst all your philosophy, be still a man." Good advice.
