August 20, 2008

Half an hour left in the day. Not too interesting an experience. I bought a "digital voice recorder" today for more than I should have spent. Nothing too obscene, but $69.30 is a little out of my casual spending range. The large, friendly fellow from my creative writing class with Kerr works at the Alamo. His name is Tony and he's a nerd. No - he's a dork. Tony is a 6'6" tall, 200-plus pound dork. He's a good fella though. I figured I would try the Alamo (II) before Best Buy or some shit for the recorder. Thing is probably twenty more dollars at Best Buy. Let's hope I put it to good use.
The Architects have even newer album out than Revenge. It's called Vice, I believe. I will have to purchase both of them. For once, a band I enjoy - and actually played with - is putting out albums on a regular basis. Good for them. Hopefully they won't have to make any stops in Decatur again. Bad ju-ju in that.
I'll be going in at 10:00 AM Friday for "orientation" at the Home Depot. One more step away from Jimmy John's. I'll miss the good people. The work - not so much. Fuck those idiots who are too lazy to go to the store and pick up some meat and bread for three dollars. I would bet money that it was food delivery that had a large hand in making America the way it is today. When the fat man found out he could simply pick up a telephone and request his super-sized montrosity of fat and cholesterol brought to him for a nominal fee, the IQ of the nation went down and the life expectancy went with it.
I took a run today. It's getting easier. Easier to maintain and push myself when I'm starting to slow down. Good sign, I say.
Surfing the internet has given me more names to remember: Xavier Rudd, Natalie Merchant, Leila, period
Went into Borders to do some magazine research. Lots of flighty sounding girls in there. School gets out at three o'clock, I guess. Don't have the time for it. Oh well. Interesting titles in there. Some I'd never seen. One UK publication was The Big Take-Over, just like the Bad Brains song. Right off the bat this has the staple of "awesome". The thing focuses on more creative punk: R.E.M. was the cover story. Wonka Vision listed Rant in E-Minor amongst its "Top 20 Most Political Albums of the Last 25 Years". No Joshua Tree. No U2 at all, as a matter of fact. No Police. That's all Ghost In the Machine is. Oh well. Not all of "us" that "get it" can be everywhere making supurfluous declarative statements all the time.
It doesn't even bother me enough to write about. So there.
Xavier Rudd makes lovely music and melodies, but his words sound quite silly. I don't think I'll finish downloading this album of his, White Moth. I don't have time for nicey-feely shit like that. Ah - this is more like it. Last.fm gave me "In My Head". Good Last.fm. Let the stinky hippies listen to that peace & love garbage. They will mellow themselves into nothing. I'll take the Ginn/Rollins team any day. I have a Joe Strummer bootleg that's 99.7% complete. WHY?!?!
Make Robert Downing, Jr stop staring. Please.
Yes, I would like to delete Xavier Rudd. Thank you.
